Congratulations to all athletes who competed at the high school zones badminton tournament yesterday in Dauphin.

Emily Mikolayenko/Liam MacLean got 3rd in mixed doubles

Owen Gonty got 4th in boys singles

Teagan Luhowy got 1st in girls singles and will advance to provincials in Winnipeg next weekend.

Next week is Spirit Week for K-12, Monday is PJ Day.

Grade 6 - 8 students attending the badminton tournament in Winnipegosis are reminded to take their shoes home after school today as the school will not be open tomorrow morning. The bus will be leaving Grandview School at 7:15 a.m.

Kindergarten to Grade 6 students have been learning some Ukrainian dance steps and will be displaying what they have learned at 2:30 today.

Congratulations to the Grade 6 - 8 boys basketball team for winning divisional over the weekend. In their first game, the boys defeated Roblin 34 - 30 to put them in the finals against Ochre River. The boys pulled ahead in the second half and claimed a 39-22 victory. Thanks to Blaine and Kelsey for going on the trip and to Logan's dad for coaching the boys this weekend. We will practice today after school.

Congratulations to the Grade 6-8 girls basketball team. The girls defeated Gilbert Plains in the semi finals to advance to the championship. There the girls played MMS. The game was tight until the girls pulled away to win the divisional championship.

All ice fishing trip forms must be handed in to Ms. Harder immediately.

There is a Buffalo Leaders meeting today at 11:45.

High school badminton practices will begin the week after spring break. Talk to Mr. Vigini if you are interested. Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A reminder that Parent-Teacher interviews are this evening from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tomorrow interviews are from 9:00 - 11:30 and from 1:00 - 2:45. There are no classes for K - 12 students on Friday, March 15, Monday March 18 will be a Day 6 on the school calendar. Kindergarten students will attend classes on Monday, May 15.

A reminder for all high school students who wish to attend the fishing trip to hand in their permission forms by tomorrow.

All high school students on the ski trip need to be on the bus at 8:00 a.m. at the school.

All students who are attending the trip from Tootinaowaziibeeng will be picked up by private vehicle to meet the bus.

The grade 6 - 8 girls basketball team was in Swan River for a tournament on Saturday. The team went 2-0 in the Round Robin which put them in the championship match. They came up against Swan Valley in a tough match with the girls pulling away to get a 32-22 victory.

Tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day - Say no to bullying! You can also wear red.

Congratulations to the Grade 5 - 8 curlers that participated in the divisional bonspiel yesterday. Grandview School was well represented with great on-ice etiquette and some nice shot making. The team of Tori, Meadow, Aimee and Brynlee finished second in a very close final, the boys team of Dylan, Lucas, Xavier, Oren, Tarik and Callum finished 4th with some crowd pleasing shots. The girls team of Thea, Jacy, Alexis, Gemma and Hannah showed determination and team work through some tough games. Well done curlers. There is no practice today.

Varsity boys basketball played against Dauphin JV boys. They played a hard game with an excellent 4th quarter. They came up short losing 57-51.

The grade 7/8 girls volleyball team wrapped up their season on Saturday on a winning note by winning the Ste. Rose Tournament. They defeated Ste. Rose #1 and Laurier in the round robins and then beat Ste. Rose #2 in the semi finals before defeating Ste. Rose #1 again in the finals. The girls played really well all day and had a lot of fun. Thanks for a great season girls!

Congratulations to the grade 6/7 boys volleyball team on their strong effort at Divisionals yesterday. The boys played well all day and ended up in 2nd place overall. Great season, boys!

Congratulations to the 6/7 girls volleyball team for finishing 2nd at Divisionals yesterday. They beat Roblin and 2 Mackenize Middle School teams in the Round Robin, and then lost in 3 sets to Gilbert Plains. The girls should be very proud of their performance and ability to perform 3 hits and block. Thank you to Avery for reffing and to everyone who helped scorekeep during the day. As well, thank you to Mrs. Deslauriers and all who helped run the canteen throughout the day, and to all other staff who made the day possible.

Both the 6/7 girls and 7/8 girls volleyball teams went to Swan River on Saturday for a tournament and both teams came home with 1st place finishes. The 6/7's went 3-0 in the round robin and then won the semi-final and final to place 1st. The 7/8's won 2 and split one in the round robin, and then won their semi final and final to finish 1st. Good job to all the players for their strong play and thank you to Ms. Harder for coaching the 7/8's again.

The grade 6-8 girls volleyball teams were in Ethelbert last night for games. The 6/7's won all 3 of their games with some good hits from Jacy, very good defending from Ell9i and some great net play from Scarlett. The grade 7/8 team lost all 3 of their games.

Monday, October 30, 2023 - Day 6

The Grade 6 - 8 girls volleyball teams hosted their home tournaments on Saturday, and both teams finished in 3rd place. The Grade 6/7 team beat Roblin and Mackenzie, they split their match with Ste. Rose, and lost to Gilbert Plains to finish with a 5-3 record. The 7/8 team defeated Roblin, slit with Mackenzie and Ethelbert and lost to Gilbert Plains to finish with a record of 4-4. Both teams had some vert good performances from several players and continue to improve and make good volleyball plays. Thanks to Ms. Harder for helping to coach the 7/8 girls. Also a big than you to Mrs. Deslauriers, Mrs. Pulock, Mrs. Topham and Christa Butt for running a great canteen, and to Raelee Brasch, Jaidyn Cords, Avery Mikolayenko, Teagan Luhowy, Adel Wiebe and Emily Mikolayenko for reffing and scorekeeping all day!

There will be a Buffalo Leaders meeting today at 11:25 in the multi-purpose room.

Parent Advisory Council is having a Family Halloween Dance on October 27th from 6-8 p.m. in the Elementary School Gym. The dance is for Grade 6 and under and the cost is $5 per child, preschool and adults are free. Children will need an adult present at the dance.

The Bookfair is on in the library this week until Friday at noon. It will be open late on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00. Proceeds from the bookfair will be used to purchase more books for the library.

In grade 6 - 8 volleyball last night, the 6-7 Spartans defeated Ethelbert 2-1 and the 7/8 team also defeated Ethelbert 2-1. The girls showed improvement from their last games and got better as the matches went on. hank you to Raelee and Teagan for reffing and scorekeeping all the games. Reminder to the girls that there is NO practice today.

Congratulations top the girls volleyball teams for their performances this weekend at the Gilbert Plains Tournament. The 6/7 team finished 1st in their tournament and the 7/8's placed 2nd. Good job to all the players.

Congratulations to the 6/7/8 boys volleyball team on a great start to the season. Last Wednesday, the boys won three out of four of their sets against Roblin. At the GP tournament, the boys finished 3rd place overall, and improved tremendously throughout the day. Great job boys!

A big congratulations goes out to the Grade 5 - 8 cross country team. The entire team showed their strength, speed and stamina in Dauphin yesterday coming out on top in almost every race. A special mention to Drew Luhowy for the second year in a row. Great job athletes

Congratulations to the Grade 6 - 8 girls volleyball teams for their performance in their exhibition games yesterday in Gilbert Plains. The 6-7's won 2 of their 3 games and showed lots of improvement in their play and had some great serving. The 7-8 team played 3 tough, close games, winning 1 of 3 games. The girls played well as a team and had some good rallies.

Grade 5 - 8 Cross Country athletes are participating in divisional play today.
