Our high school curling teams competed yesterday in Swan River.  Teagan & Dylan went 1 & 1 with an exciting extra end win, Meadow, Aimee, Paula & Gesa finished at 1 & 2 with a decisive 11 - 2 win to finish the day.  Congratulations to all athletes on a great day.
 
Middle Years curlers are reminded to hand in their permission forms as soon as possible.

Congratulations to the Grade 6-8 girls basketball team for winning a tournament in Dauphin this past Saturday.  They defeated Swan River in their first game and then beat Neepawa in the semi-finals.  We then beat Dauphin in the finals.  Scarlett Lynx was named the tournament MVP.
 
Also, congratulations to the curling team of Gesa, Paula, Aimee and Meadow who competed at a curling zone play-in game on Thursday.  They represented Grandview School with great sportsmanship and a well  played game.

Congratulations to the junior high girls for finishing 2nd in  their home tournament this past weekend.  They defeated the Dauphin 7 team by 30 before beating Roblin 79-5 to advance to the finals.  Dauphin 8's beat the Spartans 26-24 in the final.  Great effort ladies.  Thanks Drew for all your scorekeeping.
 
Kindergarten Registration will be tomorrow, Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 9:00 - 3:30.  There will be an orientation at a later date.

Congratulations to the Grades 6-8 Girls basketball team for defeating Gilbert Plains 49-17 last night.

Middle year's ski trip to Assessippi is Monday - Dress for the weather!!  The bus leaves at 8:00 sharp.  Be here by 7:50.

Monday, December 2, 2024 -Day 3
Congratulations to the Grade 7/8 girls volleyball team for their performance at the Grade 8 Provinicals in Steinbach this past weekend.  The girls finished 3rd in their pool, beating Steinbach and losing to Lansdowne School and St. Mary's Academy from Winnipeg.  In the first round of the playoffs, the Spartans defeated Edmund Partridge School from Winnipeg to advance to the Quarterfinals.  They then played Ness School from Winnipeg and lost 2 - 0 finishing the Spartans season in 5th place in the province.  They had the highest finish of any rural team at Provinicials.  The girls had an amazing season and you should be so proud of what you accomplished.  Way to go Spartans!!

Congratulations to the grade 7/8 girls volleyball team for winning the Ste. Rose tournament on Saturday.  The Spartans went undefeated  in the round robin to advanced to the finals. In the finals they beat Ochre River 2-0 to win the tournament.  Good job girls on another solid day of volleyball.  The 7/8's will practice today and Wednesday in preparation for their provincials this weekend in Steinbach.

Congratulations to the Gr. 6/7 girls volleyball team for  placing 2nd at the Divisional Tournament yesterday.  The Spartans won their pool by defeating two different teams from Mackenzie, as well as Roblin and Winnipegosis.  This put them in the finals against the Gr 7's from Mackenzie and unfortunately the girls came up a bit short.
 
This ends the 6/7 girls season, but the girls improved tremendously from the start of the season.  They should be proud of how far they have come.
 
Thanks to everyone who reffed, kept score and helped in the canteen to make the day successful.

Grades 9-12 girls basketball meeting today at 12:05 in the art room.  Please attend if you plan to show up for tryouts.
 
The grades 6-8 boys volleyball team travelled to Gilbert Plains yesterday to compete in the Grade 8 Divisional tournament.  The boys played well despite being a younger team and won 3 out of 8 sets, coming in 3rd out of 5 teams.  Congratulations on a great season boys!!

The Grades 6/7 boys volleyball team hosted the grade 7 divisional volleyball tournament yesterday,  The Spartans played well, splitting sets with Gilbert Plains, Roblin and Mackenzie 6 teams.  Thank you to everyone who was involved in putting on a successful day of volleyball.
 
A reminder there are no classes on Monday, November 11th in recognition of Remembrance Day and Tuesday, November 12th for an Admin/Pd day at the schools.

Congratulations goes out to the Grades 7/8 girls volleyball team for winning the Divisional tournament in GP yesterday.  The Spartans won both their round robin games, defeating Ochre River and Roblin.  This gave them a bye to the semi finals where the girls beat GP to advance to the finals.  In the finals the Spartans defeated MMS 2-0 to win the championship.  This now qualifies them to play in the Grade 8 Provincials in Steinbach on November 29-30.  Great job girls!! Be proud of your accomplishment.

Congratulations to the Grades 7/8 girls volleyball team for winning the Killarney tournament this weekend.  The Spartans never lost a set all day going 5-0 in the round robin and then defeated Killarney in finals.  The girls showed strong team play with great serving and blocking.

The 6-8 girls volleyball teams hosted Gilbert Plains in exhibition volleyball last night.  The 6/7s played 2 exciting games with some great rallies.  They won the first set 25-24 and then lost the second 25-24.  The 7/8 team won both of their sets and showed lots of fight to win the 2nd set with some clutch serves by Jacy and Tori.  Great job to all players!!

On Saturday the grades 6-8 girls volleyball teams hosted their home tournament, with 10 teams participating.  In the 6/7 division, the Spartan girls finished with a 2-2 record, defeating Roblin and Ethelbert and losing to Gilbert Plains and Dauphin.  Once again, the 6/7 girls showed more improvement and played well.
In the 7/8 division, the Spartans had a very successful day, finishing in 1st place.  In the round robin, the girls defeated Roblin, Ste. Rose, Dauphin and Gilbert Plains to get to the finals.  In the Championship game the Spartans won an exciting match over Dauphin in 3 sets to win the tournament.  Congratulations to all the girls for a great day of volleyball.  Both teams host Gilbert Plains after school today in exhibition games.

The 6-8 boys volleyball team travelled to Dauphin this week to participate in the Mackenzie Magic Classic Tournament. The boys played well and ended up with 2 wins and 2 losses, placing them 3rd in the pool after round robin.  The boys should be proud of themselves.
 
Grade 6 - 8 boys volleyball practice is cancelled for Tuesday.
 
Congratulations to the Grade 7/8 girls volleyball team for finishing 2nd at the MMS Tournament this weekend.  They won their pool by defeating Neepawa, Ethelbert, MMS and Swan River,  They then played Russell in the finals and lost a tough 3 set match, losing the final set 18-16.  Great job girls! You should be proud of your effort.
 
The 6-8 team will practice today and then host Roblin on Wednesday for exhibition games.

The Grades 6/7 and Grades 7/8 girls volleyball teams hosted Ethelbert in exhibition games last night.  The 7/8s served well and won all 3 games.  The 6/7 girls played well and showed great improvements in all parts of their game.  They split their first 2 games and then lost the 3rd set 15-14.  Great job girls!!

Congrats to the HS cross country team who competed at the zone meet in Northgate trails yesterday.  All of the athletes improved on their time and a special congrats goes out to Heather for placing 1st and Paula for placing 3rd.  Owen placed 2nd in jv boys.  All athletes will be participating in provincials on October 9th.

The 6-8 girls volleyball team was in Ethelbert last night and performed well in their games.  The 6/7 girls won 1 set and lost 2 close ones.  The 7/8 girls won all 3 of their games.  Both teams played well and made lots of good volleyball plays.
 
The 6-8 boys volleyball team travelled to Ethelbert last night and won all three sets.  All players showed improvements - especially on their serves.  Reminder that the bus leaves at 8:30 on Saturday morning - please be sure to take your indoor shoes home today

Welcome back to school to all returning students and staff and welcome to Grandview School to all new students and staff. Hope everyone had a great summer.  Have an excellent 24-25 school year!
 
There will be a grade 6-8 girls volleyball practice tomorrow from 3:30 - 5:30.  All girls interested in playing are asked to show up in your gym clothes and ready to practice.
 
Any grade 9-12 girls interested in playing volleyball are asked to meet in front of the office at 12:05.
 
Teen Clinic will be held in high school until noon today.
 
Homework Club will start up again next week.  It will be held in the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.  Come and bring some homework to finish up.
