Thursday, March 12, 2026 - Day 4

The next Parent Advisory Council hot lunch is on Monday, March 16, they will be serving french toast and fruit.

Tuesday, March 10, 2026 - Day 2

Good luck to the junior varsity basketball girls as they head off to provincials in Gladstone tomorrow afternoon.

The only day for Board Game Club this month is March 18.

High school badminton practices will be Monday and Wednesday starting next week. Practices will be from 3:30 - 5:30.

The Book Fair will be held from March 15-19 during school hours and there will be two evening sessions - Tuesday, March 17 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm and Thursday, March 19 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm

On March 20 it will be an admin day for K - 8 Parent Teacher Interviews on Thursday evening from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. and on Friday for K - 8 only from 9:00 - 11:30 and 1:00 - 3:00 - no classes for students. On Friday, March 20 for 9-12 will be a PD day and there will be no classes for students. Monday, March 23 will be a Day 4 on the 6-day cycle. Kindergarten students will attend school on Wednesday, March 18 (Day 2) and not again until Monday, March 23 (Day 4).

Spring Break is March 30 - April 3. Last day before break is Friday, March 27 (Day 2) and first day back is Monday April 6 (Day 3). Kindergarten students attend classes on Friday, March 27 (Day 2) and not again until Tuesday, April 7 (Day 4).

Monday, March 9, 2026 - Day 1

There will not be Mindfulness club tomorrow morning.

The only day for Board Game Club this month is March 18.

High school badminton practices will be Monday and Wednesday starting next week. Practices will be from 3:30 - 5:30.

Today is the last day for ribbon skirt making after school. All those who are staying need to let Ms. Harder know by noon to guarantee a ride home.

All students wanting to attend the Brandon career trip on March 17 need to submit permission forms by tomorrow.

Friday, March 6, 2026 - Day

The Book Fair will be held from March 15-19 during school hours and there will be two evening sessions - Tuesday, March 17 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm and Thursday, March 19 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm

Tuesday, March 3, 2026 - Day 3

The grade 6-7 girls basketball team travelled to Roblin yesterday to take on their grade 6 boys team. The Spartans cam away with a 24-19 win.

Anyone want to go skiing or snowboarding again? There are limited spaces available. See Mrs. Myers if you are interested. The trip is scheduled for Sunday, March 15.

Grade 6 - 8 boys basketball practise from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.

No scholarship club today.

The school curling season has come to an end. Thank you to Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Myers for joining us this year. We hope to see all curlers back on the ice next year and will be looking for anew players on the high school and middle years teams.

The Varsity Girls Basketball team travelled to Ebb and Flow for zones last night. The girls won 57-11 to earn a chance to go to Provincials.

Monday, February 23, 2026 - Day 3

The JV girls basketball team was in Rosenort for Provincial Qualifiers this past Saturday. In their first game, they beat the #8 ranked Landmark team 65-45. In the second game, the girls were face with the tough challenge of the #5 ranked Teulon team. The battled hard including not allowing a single point against for 8 straight minutes to come away with the win and booked their ticket to JV Provincials in Gladstone. Congratulations girls!

Thursday, February 20, 2026 - Day 1

There is curling practice today. Let Mrs. Luhowy if you are not able to attend.

There is online pre-registration for students eligible to attend Kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year. Students eligible to attend are those who will be 5 years old by December 31, 2026 (born in 2021).

Parents must pre-register by going to the Grandview School web page and click on the 2026-2027 Kindergarten Pre-registration located on the right-hand side top portion of the page and completing the form online. If you have any questions please call the school.

Wednesday, February 19, 2026 - Day 6

Congratulations to the Middle Years curlers for their participation in the Divisional Bonspiel yesterday. The boys team of Lucas, Tarik, Atticus and Oren came out on the short end of a 3 way tie for 3rd. The girls team of Jaylee, Annika, Hannah and Emery finished 3rd after winning their playoff game.

There are three curling practices left. If you are not planning to attend on your scheduled day, you must let Mrs. Luhowy know ahead of time.

There is an ELC meeting at lunch in the art room.

Tuesday, February 17, 2026 - Day 5

Congratulations to the varsity boys' basketball team for finishing 2nd in the Ebb and Flow tournament. They won their first two games on Friday with scores of 78-59 and 89-54. They played a great game on Saturday but fell short in the finals against Ebb and Flow. Great job boys!

The last day of classes before Spring Break is March 27. Spring Break is March 30 - April 3. The first day back after Spring Break is Monday, April 6 which will be a Day 3. Kindergarten students will attend on Tuesday, April 7 (Day 4) and Thursday, April 9 (Day 6) that week.

With the weather forecast predicting a snowfall warning, please listen to CKDM radio in the morning for updates on bus routes or road condtions.

There will be hot breakfast tomorrow morning for all students. Sausages and hash brown patties will be served.

Congratulations to the varsity boys' basketball team for winning an exhibition game against Russell last night. With a last second basket from Carter Porath, they won 79-78!

The jv girls travelled to Russell for an exhibition game against their varsity girls. With 7 athletes, the girls played extremely well winning 76-40 led by Bel O'Hara with 35 points!

Reminder that Monday, February 16, 2026 is Louis Riel Day and there are no classes for students. Tuesday, February 16, 2026 will be a Day day 5. Kindergarten students attend classes on Friday, February 13 and not again until Wednesday, February 18, 2026 (Day 6).

The Jr. Varsity girls were in Ste. Rose last night for the zone final. After a tough defensive battle, the girls came out with a 51-42 win.

Friday, February 13. 2026 is the Parent Advisory Council's Valentine's Day Tea in the Elementary Gym. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. performances starting at 1:15 p.m. Entertainment provided by Mrs. Kuzyk and the K-6 classes.

Admission is $5 per adult, preschool free. Everyone welcome!

Coffee, tea, and deserts will be served.

Tuesday, February 3, 2026 - Day 2

The grade 6 - 8 boys basketball team went to Roblin to play another round of back to back games against their 6/7 team and grade 8 team. With 7 players on the bench the boys demonstrated strength, sportsmanship and endurance. They lost by 14 points to the grade 8 Roblin team ending in a score of 24-38 and claimed victory in their second game against Roblin's 6/7 team with a score of 28-14.

Buffalo Leader Lunch Hour Mentors are Keith, Kealon, Meadow, Aimee and Charlize.

There will not be curling practice today due to maintenance at the curling rink.

Congratulations to the Grade 6 - 8 girls basketball team for finishing 2nd at their home tournament this past weekend.

In their first game, they defeated Dauphin grade 7 by a score of 28-18.

In their second game, they defeated Neepawa Grade 8's 24-20.

In their 3rd game they beat Neepawa grade 7 28-22.

Our girls then lost in the finals 25-14 to the Dauphin Grade 8 team.

There will not be practice today.

Grad 6 - 8 boys basketball are to meet at the elementary doors at 3:30 p.m. as they are travelling to Roblin for a game.

Reminder that Friday, January 30 is a PD day for Grade 1-8 and an Admin Day for K & 9-12 and is not counted as a day on the 6 day school calendar. Monday, February 2 will be a Day 1 on the school calendar. Kindergarten students attend classes on Thursday, January 29 (Day 6) and won't attend again until Tuesday, February 3 which will be a Day 2.

Grandview/Gilbert Plains girls and boys are hosting a basketball tournament today and tomorrow. The girls play at 10:30 this morning in Grandview and then in Gilbert Plains at 4:30 today. The boys play at 12:00 in Grandview and then at 6:00 in Gilbert Plains. Both games will be streamed online. The Grandview games will be available to view on camera by going to the Grandview School website and clicking on Grandview/GP boys and girls basketball tournament. Tomorrow the games are in Grandview - girls play at 9:00 a.m. and boys play at 6:00.

Curlers are reminded that season fees are due today and that permission forms need to be returned before going on the ice today. There are numerous forms and fees still outstanding.

The high school hockey team is having a food drive at home games in Grandview December 9 and in Roblin on December 18. Students bringing a food donation will get in free. Donations will go to the local food banks.

The grade 6-8 girls volleyball team wrapped up their season on Saturday by finishing second at the Ste. Rose Tournament. Once again the girls Played well and showed how much they have improved. Congratulations girls on a great season!

The grade 6 - 8 girls first basketball practice of the year will be on Wednesday.

Congratulations to the Grade 6/7 girls volleyball team for their 3rd place finish at Divisionals yesterday. The Spartans finished second in their pool with wins over Roblin 6's. MMS 6'd and Winnipegosis and a loss to MMs 7's. They then were knocked out by Gilbert Plains 7's in the semi finals. Great job girls on your hard work all day!

Congratulations to the Grade 6 - 8 boys volleyball teams on a successful season. Extra congratulations to the Grade 7 boys team who finished 1st in their pool and 2nd overall at divisionals yesterday in Roblin! Great work boys!

Congratulations to the Gr 7/8 girls volleyball team for their performance at Divisionals yesterday. The Spartans won their pool by defeating Roblin, Ethelbert & Gilbert Plains. They then lost to MMS in the semi finals to finish in 3rd place. Great job girls on your excellent play and for once again being the best behaved team!

Congratulations to Secret in grade 2! She won the candy guess at the Halloween activities on Friday. There were 116 candies in the jar and Secret guessed 115. Good job Secret!

A tie for close guesses were: Ethan in grade 4 and Addisyn in grade 4 who both guessed 120.

A letter went home with all students yesterday saying there was a case of lice in the school. We have had several cases since the beginning of school. Parents are reminded to check their child's hair regularly.

There is open gym nigh tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
