A reminder to Grade 6 to 8 Badminton players that the bus will be leaving Grandview School tomorrow morning at 7:25.  Please be sure to take home your shoes after school today as the school will not be opened Saturday morning.
 
The last Parent Advisory Council Hot Lunch for the year will be Monday, May 11, 2026.  Hamburgers and chips will be served free to students.  Notes should have come home yesterday for any students wanting to sign up for the lunch that haven't already done so.

KINDERGARTEN  ORIENTATION/MEET THE TEACHER  

 

Registration/Orientation of all children eligible to attend Kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year will take place at Grandview School on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Some children may have already been registered online, but this is a great opportunity to meet the teacher and to take part in an information session.

 

Children eligible to attend must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2021.  Parents must bring their child’s birth certificate to registration.

 

Children and parents are asked to meet at 1:00 p.m. in the multi-purpose room where information on the Kindergarten program will be given. 

 

If it is not possible for you to register your child at this time please call the school at 546-2882.

High school badminton practice will be Monday and Wednesday this week.
 
Grade 5 - 8 badminton practice on Tuesday and Thursday this week until 5:30.
 
This past Spring Break, the Grandview Travel Club embarked on an unforgettable 10-day adventure to Dublin, London and Paris!
 
The trip began with a flight to Toronto, followed by an overnight journey to Dublin.  While there, students explored highlights like the Molly Malone statue, Grafton Street, Trinity College, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the Little Dublin Museum - while experiencing the warm hospitality and humor pf the Irish people.
 
The group then traveled by ferry to Wales and continued on to England, visiting Shakespeare's home, Anne Hathaway's cottage, and Windsor Castle.  In London, they took in iconic sights including Buckingham Palace, the Changing of the Guard, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the London Eye, and even rode a classic double-decker bus.
 
The trip wrapped up in Paris, where students visited the Eiffel Tower and other famous landmarks.
 
It truly was a trip of a lifetime!  Be sure to ask any of the students who went - they have lots of amazing stories to share!

The middle school boys basketball team headed to Grade 8 divisionals this weekend and left it all on the court.  A close game against Roblin was held and in the last quarter Roblin held a lead until the end of the game.  Grandview played Ethelbert in their second game and came away with a win and a great end to the season!
 
High school badminton badminton practice is Monday and Wednesday this week.
 
The field trip to Brandon is postponed.
 
Remember to wear green tomorrow for St. Patrick's Day.

The grade 6-7 girls basketball team travelled to Roblin yesterday to take on their grade 6 boys team.  The Spartans cam away with a 24-19 win.
 
Anyone want to go skiing or snowboarding again?  There are limited spaces available.  See Mrs. Myers if you are interested.  The trip is scheduled for Sunday, March 15.

The JV girls basketball team was in Rosenort for Provincial Qualifiers this past Saturday. In their first game, they beat the #8 ranked Landmark team 65-45.  In the second game, the girls were face with the tough challenge of the #5 ranked Teulon team.  The battled hard including not allowing a single point against for 8 straight minutes to come away with the win and booked their ticket to JV Provincials in Gladstone. Congratulations girls!
 
Thursday, February 20, 2026 - Day 1
 
There is curling practice today.  Let Mrs. Luhowy if you are not able to attend.
 
There is online pre-registration for students eligible to attend Kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year.  Students eligible to attend are those who will be 5 years old by December 31, 2026 (born in 2021).
Parents must pre-register by going to the Grandview School web page and click on the 2026-2027 Kindergarten Pre-registration located on the right-hand side top portion of the page and completing the form online.  If you have any questions please call the school.
 
Wednesday, February 19, 2026 - Day 6
 
Congratulations to the Middle Years curlers for their participation in the Divisional Bonspiel yesterday.  The boys team of Lucas, Tarik, Atticus and Oren came out on the short end of a 3 way tie for 3rd.  The girls team of Jaylee, Annika, Hannah and Emery finished 3rd after winning their playoff game.

Congratulations to the varsity boys' basketball team for finishing 2nd in the Ebb and Flow tournament.  They won their first two games on Friday with scores of 78-59 and 89-54.  They played a great game on Saturday but fell short in the finals against Ebb and Flow.  Great job boys!

The jv girls travelled to Russell for an exhibition game against their varsity girls.  With 7 athletes, the girls played extremely well winning 76-40 led by Bel O'Hara with 35 points!

The grade 6 - 8 boys basketball team went to Roblin to play another round of back to back games against their 6/7 team and grade 8 team.  With 7 players on the bench the boys demonstrated strength, sportsmanship and endurance.  They lost by 14 points to the grade 8 Roblin team ending in a score of 24-38 and claimed victory in their second game against Roblin's 6/7 team with a score of 28-14.

In their 3rd game they beat Neepawa grade 7 28-22.
Our girls then lost in the finals 25-14 to the Dauphin Grade 8 team.

The high school student council is encouraging everyone to wear green or Spartan clothing tomorrow to help cheer on the JVB girls volleyball team as they head to Provincials Thursday morning.

The grade 6 - 8 girls first basketball practice of the year will be on Wednesday.
 
Congratulations to the Grade 6/7 girls volleyball team for their 3rd place finish at Divisionals yesterday.  The Spartans finished second in their pool with wins over Roblin 6's. MMS 6'd and Winnipegosis and a loss to MMs 7's.  They then were knocked out by Gilbert Plains 7's in the semi finals.  Great job girls on your hard work all day!
 
Congratulations to the Grade 6 - 8 boys volleyball teams on a successful season.  Extra congratulations to the Grade 7 boys team who finished 1st in their pool and 2nd overall at divisionals yesterday in Roblin!  Great work boys!
 
Monday, November 17 is the next Parent Advisory Council 's hot lunch.  They will be serving pancakes and sausages.

Congratulations to the Gr 7/8 girls volleyball team for their performance at Divisionals yesterday.  The Spartans won their pool by defeating Roblin, Ethelbert & Gilbert Plains.  They then lost to MMS in the semi finals to finish in 3rd place.  Great job girls on your excellent play and for once again being the best behaved team!

Congratulations to Secret in grade 2! She won the candy guess at the Halloween activities on Friday.  There were 116 candies in the jar and Secret guessed 115.  Good job Secret!
A tie for close guesses were: Ethan in grade 4 and Addisyn in grade 4 who both guessed 120.
 
A letter went home with all students yesterday saying there was a case of lice in the school.  We have had several cases since the beginning of school.  Parents are reminded to check their child's hair regularly.
 
There is open gym nigh tonight from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
